Street Artist Banksy, appears to have returned from his New York Residency to delight the residents from his home town of Bristol. The piece, showing a couple embracing while checking their mobile phones, was removed from a council owned wall by the owner of a nearby Youth Club. Recognizing its value, the owner of the club claimed the piece with the intention of putting it to auction in order to raise money to support the club which was struggling financially. The piece 'Mobile Lovers' typical of Banksy's style appears to address the damaging digital nature of society glued to their smart phones, and how frequently beautiful moments which occur in reality are disregarded or missed, as a result of an increasing unnatural attatchment with the cyber world.
